Commercial real estate interest in San Jose is picking up in recent months, with telecomm giant Verizon the latest to enter for the foray.  Along with developer Hunter Storm, the company recently broke ground on Verizon’s new tech hub in Silicon Valley, located at the massive Coleman Highline development.

Located at 1193-1199 Coleman Ave, the project will encompass 640,000 sq ft and house approximately 3,000 employees. Expected to be completed in 2021.

The long-term lease will become home for about 2,400 employees that are currently located in Sunnyvale at Verizon Media, according to a Verizon spokeswoman.

The sustainable, community-focused campus plans to include a welcome pavilion and 45,000 sq ft of common facilities – including fitness center, market, and cafe. The project is designed by architecture firm Gensler.

Located near the Santa Clara Transit Center, which connects with Caltrain, Altamont Corridor Express, Valley Transit Authority, plus a planned future BART station, the development is also close to  another Hunter Storm project, Gateway Crossings, which will include omes, hotel, parks, and retail.

Verizon will be neighbors to Roku, Inc, which chose Coleman Highline for its corporate headquarters last summer. The transit-oriented, mixed use development, will also include retail space, market, and hotel.
